Against the backdrop of deepening educational connectivity under the Belt and Road Initiative, the 2026 China-Bangladesh Education Cooperation Forum was successfully held on May 9th at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Jointly organized by the Embassy of China in Bangladesh and the Ministry of Education of Bangladesh, the forum centered on the theme "Deepening China-Bangladesh Educational Cooperation: Empowering Talent Development and Employment."

The event focused on critical areas including "Chinese + Vocational Skills" training, transnational university partnerships, industry-academia synergy, and overseas employment systems. It aimed to enhance the quality and depth of pragmatic educational cooperation between the two nations. The forum drew significant high-level attendance, with six Bangladeshi ministers present, coverage by over 30 mainstream media outlets, and enthusiastic participation from more than 5,000 local students. Nearly 1,000 delegates attended, including representatives from over 20 Chinese universities, medical colleges, and educational institutions, alongside Bangladeshi university heads and student representatives, all collaborating to explore innovative pathways for talent cultivation.

Distinguished Guests Highlight Strategic Importance
The opening ceremony featured a distinguished roster of attendees. H.E. Yao Wen, Ambassador of China to Bangladesh; Mr. Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Education Minister of Bangladesh; Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud, Principal Education Advisor to the Prime Minister; and Mr. Moinuddin, Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Education, delivered keynote speeches. The leaders affirmed the fundamental and strategic role of education in national modernization and expressed high expectations for the long-term trajectory of China-Bangladesh educational cooperation.
As a key organizer and core exhibitor, WIE International proudly showcased three premier Chinese institutions: Beijing Institute of Technology, Liaoning University of Technology, and Guangxi University of Foreign Languages.

Soaring Interest: Bangladeshi Students Seek Opportunities
The exhibition area hosted by WIE International attracted a constant stream of local high school students, undergraduates, and educators. The atmosphere was electric, with long queues forming for one-on-one consultations with senior education advisors regarding undergraduate and postgraduate applications, program structures, scholarship policies, and campus life logistics.
On-site statistics revealed that the majority of inquiries came from high school students, with a particularly keen interest in Engineering, Business, and Artificial Intelligence. These fields align perfectly with Bangladesh’s industrial development needs while highlighting the cutting-edge advantages of Chinese higher education. In recent years, China has become an increasingly attractive destination due to its world-class teaching standards, advanced research platforms, and vibrant campus culture.

The booth also served as a hub for institutional networking. Numerous local training centers, agencies, and education providers expressed a strong desire to establish long-term partnerships with the represented Chinese universities, laying the groundwork for future joint recruitment and foundation programs.

Beyond Academics: Cultural Resonance Fuels Demand
Discussions with students revealed that the appeal of studying in China extends beyond academics. Chinese pop culture—from hit TV dramas and short videos to lifestyle content on Douyin—has sparked immense curiosity among Bangladeshi youth. They view China not just as a place to gain knowledge, but as a destination to experience a unique blend of technology, culture, and modern living.
"I love Chinese technology and culture!" exclaimed one high school student waiting in line. "I hope to study Artificial Intelligence at Beijing Institute of Technology and bring that knowledge back to develop my country."
The venue was filled with laughter, discussion, and photo requests, reflecting the warm and friendly ties between the youth of both nations.

Conclusion: A Promising Future for China-Bangladesh Education
The successful hosting of this forum marks a significant milestone in WIE International’s commitment to China’s education对外开放 (opening-up) strategy. By representing these three distinguished universities, we have not only showcased the excellence of Chinese higher education but also built robust bridges for Bangladeshi students.
Moving forward, WIE International will continue to leverage its expertise to help more Chinese universities expand their global footprint. We are dedicated to providing high-quality exchange opportunities for the youth of both nations, jointly cultivating interdisciplinary talent with a global vision, and contributing to the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Bangladesh through the power of education. The future of China-Bangladesh educational cooperation is indeed bright.
